Toun28 has been established in 2017, but the founders had already been working on sustainability and environmental issues for years before that. They realised that they wanted to make protecting the environment a clear part of their mission. When they took the step of founding the company in 2017, they had big plans: Their skincare products were to consist largely of paper packaging, plastic production was to be radically curtailed, solid products were to be prioritised over liquid ones wherever possible and refill options were to be a key component. They had noticed that the money spent on many cosmetics and skincare products is primarily channelled into the packaging and not first and foremost into natural and high-quality products. As consumers, we are therefore primarily buying containers rather than content. Junsu Park, co-founder of Toun28, hopes that his company will initiate a change that many companies and customers will follow.
