When winemaker and master perfumer meet - the year is 2013, the place is Amsterdam, Abel founder and former winemaker Frances Shoemack is looking for a truly natural perfume and can't find it. Soon after, the idea for Abel was born. New Zealander and master perfumer Isaac Sinclair became Shoemack's first ally in an effort to disrupt an industry that didn't believe natural perfume could be chic, modern or compete with the world's best. A decade has passed since then and Abel, based in Wellington, New Zealand, is sold in 33 countries worldwide and is finding great acclaim. The Abel team has grown and so has the collection - albeit at an organic pace. While Abel's mission has remained steadfast, it has also evolved. No longer content with making the best natural perfume in the world, they also want to make a positive impact on the environment and the community.
Abel's Master Perfumer Isaac Sinclair uses the most innovative renewable ingredients alongside the best traditional naturals. The team works tirelessly to innovate in fragrance, packaging and process development to challenge industry norms and provide biodegradable, eco-friendly fragrance alternatives for conscious urban dwellers around the world. Transparency is at the heart of their business, which is why they publish the full ingredient list of all fragrances because they believe consumers have as much right to know what ingredients are in their perfume and where they come from as they do with food.
