Elodie Carpentier is the founder and face of Le Rouge Français, one of our favorite brands in the field of natural decorative cosmetics. She describes herself as a "mother and entrepreneur". More than that, she has started a small revolution. Plant-based pigments in a new guise! They play the main role in the extremely elegant, very Parisian cosmetics line that she and her husband Salem Ghezaili founded in 2019. More than 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and the birth of her first daughter have led Elodie to focus on products that make no compromises with her own health and that of her child! She says herself: "I was fascinated by plant-based colors! They are an alternative to conventional cosmetic products, which are 99% based on unsustainable and controversial petrochemical pigments, and the remaining 1% from unsustainable and unethical mineral extraction. Since bioethics is the only alternative, I focused on that."
Three years of research were necessary to develop the unique and patented process for extracting and using organic plant dyes for cosmetic purposes. Madder, achiote, sorghum bicolor, indigo, damask rose and hibiscus are the names of the plants that inspired the founding couple to become the basis of their cosmetics and to release and use their pigments and unique biological properties.
