Facts

The Gua Sha treatment is an ancient massage and detoxification technique from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). In Chinese, Gua means “to scrape,” and Sha refers to “acute illness.”

Using the Gua Sha stone, specific areas of the skin are gently scraped to stimulate reflex zones and so-called meridians—the channels through which the life energy, Chi, flows.

In TCM, this massage is primarily used to prevent illness, stimulate blood circulation and lymphatic flow, and support the body’s natural detoxification process.

Application

Preparation: Cleanse your face thoroughly and apply a facial oil of your choice. Use light pressure and repeat each movement 3–5 times on each side.

Eyes: Use the pointed ends of the Gua Sha. Place it at the inner corners of your eyelids and under the eyes, then glide it gently outward toward the temples.

Cheeks and Chin: Use the wide, inward-curved edge. Start at the chin and stroke upward toward the hairline. Move up to the mouth and nose area, then glide outward toward the ears.

Forehead: Use the wide, outward- or inward-curved edge of the stone. Place it in the middle of your forehead and stroke horizontally toward the temples, then upward toward the hairline.

Neck: Use the wide, outward-curved edge of the Gua Sha. Start at the base of the neck and slowly glide the stone upward toward the chin.

Cleaning & Care: Wipe the Gua Sha clean with a damp cloth and allow it to dry.
