The story of Sol de Ibiza is closely linked to its co-founder, Alessandro Mancini, whose life has been passionately connected to the element of water since he was a child. In 2015, he moved to Ibiza with his young family, consciously deciding against a career that required a stressful daily routine with more than 100 flights a year. He fell in love with the deep blue of the Mediterranean and began swimming long distances every day, all year round, regardless of the conditions. He remembers that after a long day of swimming on a crowded beach, he suddenly smelled the smell of stinking sunscreen chemicals so clearly that he became really aware for the first time how this was contrary to nature, the sea and its beauty. He had never before thought about how these chemicals, which he himself and his family had used every day, could affect the water quality and thus marine life. He learned more about natural sunscreens from his wife, an Australian who was much more sensitive to skin and the sun due to her origins. When one day a friend of his came to him with the idea of developing a natural sunscreen, the foundations for Sol de Ibiza were laid. To put the project into practice, the first step was to select the ingredients. They got hold of aloe vera from the Casita Verde ecological center in Ibiza and found a laboratory that was willing to work with them to make their vision a reality: a sunscreen made only of purely natural ingredients and good for children, adults and the environment. What they definitely didn't want was to produce another piece of plastic that could find its way into the sea. For this reason, Sol de Ibiza is completely plastic-free.
