KORA MIKINO was founded by Julia Rittereiser (not a Kora) because she wanted to take the topic of periods out of the shameful, dirty corner.
The idea of period underwear is by no means as crazy or unusual as some people assume, because period underwear already existed in the 1950s.
However, it is only modern materials like those used by KORA MIKINO that make the briefs really reliable and comfortable. There were many obstacles from the idea to the implementation; Julia remembers a bank advisor who refused to give her a loan because the topic of periods was a niche. He asked if she wanted to develop something for men and incontinence. Julia was speechless with anger.
But all these challenges and adversities have made KORA MIKINO what it is today: a small, independent company with the goal of developing the best and most beautiful period panties.
And if you're wondering why KORA MIKINO is called KORA MIKINO, it means something like "friend" and comes from the constructed language Esperanto - a language that was developed to promote international understanding.
