Nicola Dickinson is the founder of Fresh Therapies and, as she herself describes herself, "the wearer of many hats in this crazy journey" that she began in 2006.
How did this happen? As a beauty therapist, she was not allowed to grow long nails and wearing colored nail polish was a waste of time as she used nail polish remover day in and day out. Constantly washing her hands between clients left her nails dry, weak and dehydrated from the need for antibacterial hand wash. Natural and organic products were not yet a big focus at the time. At the same time, she heard the same problems from many other women who often found their own nails horrible and ruined. She understood that not everyone wants to have long nails, but most people want to have healthy nails.
So she started looking for nail care products that are nourishing and moisturizing, contain non-toxic ingredients, have a delicate scent, are easy to use, are environmentally friendly and are packaged as plastic-free as possible.
Everyone in her company, including the staff, repeatedly commented negatively on the smell of nail polish remover and acetone that hung in the air of the salon.
That's when the penny dropped! Fresh Therapies - natural nail care was born. She developed a better smelling, natural nail polish remover that doesn't strip the nails of their natural oils and is nourishing at the same time. She still keeps her nails short, even though she no longer works in the salon. Playing with the grandchildren, packing orders and paddle boarding take their toll.
